Tests~Trials~Tribulations

I know I'm not the only one that has experienced a storm or two at some point in there life. OK OK you might not call it a storm, perhaps you call it a test, or even a trial, maybe even a tribulation or simply just going through. The bottom line is no matter what you call it we all have either made it through some thing or we are currently going through.

Did you know that your test ends up being your testimony? Contrary to popular belief tests help you grow and are a tool for elevation in Christ. God wants to know how you are going to handle the test. See, it's easy to praise God when everything in your life is going well but how will you fair when adversity comes. God wants to know if you are going to praise him while all HELL is breaking out in your life.  Are you going to complain the entire time and possibly give up or are you going to give God the praise. I'll admit some test are a little harder to pass then others. Always remember no matter how big or small the test God will see you through. Philippians 4:13 NKJV says "I can do all things through Christ who strengths me."

Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life for us. Not only was it a sacrifice but it was the greatest test of all time. John 3:16 NIV says "For God so loved the world he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." If Jesus got tested we are no different. If God brought you to it, he will surely bring you through it. Now that is some good news.

Here are some scriptures that I read to encourage myself while I am going through.

Galatians 6:9 ESV says "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

Philippians 4:19 ESV says " And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Romans 8:28 ESV says "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

Psalm 30:5 NIV says "For his anger last only a moment, but his favor last a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night but rejoicing comes in the morning."

Psalm 34:1 ESV says "I will bless the Lord at all times his praise shall continually be in my mouth."

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. "

In closing, I would just like to say I know the storms of life can become overwhelming, but continue to hold on and trust the Lord. He will see you through. Whether you believe it or not, God has already given you the tools you need to pass the test. We just have to use them. God knows you have what it takes to survive the storm.

Wednesday Word

Your Story is not My Story!!!

My story is not quite like your story
My struggle is not quite like your struggle
You can't live my story & I can't live your struggle
Life takes us all on separate journeys
When brought our way some seem insurmountable
But once overcome they leave a path for others to follow
They leave a legacy behind for others to live and learn by
The struggles of our past are not the struggles our tomorrow
Our tomorrow brings new struggles, new struggles bring hope, & our hope brings new life.

Delayed

How many of you have experienced a delay? We know it all too well, they are inconvenient, frustrating, and  even annoying. Whether it is something small like missing a bus or major like loosing a job. Some don't see Gods hand at work when the delay takes place. Many of you focus on what was lost instead of turning to God during this time. Do you ever think that the delay is Gods way of protecting us. Maybe he has a greater blessing in store for you. Maybe some things need to be shifted or adjusted so you can be better. Although inconvenient at times, we need to learn to embrace the blessing in the delay. A delay doesn't mean that God is telling you NO it just means not right now.

For example, one afternoon I watched an episode of VH1's Behind the Music, the episode showcased Jennifer Hudson. For those of you who don't know, this show tells the story of an artist and their rise to fame. Jennifer Hudson was a competitor on American Idol and made it to the final two and lost to Fantasia. People were telling her even though she had lost, the record exec's would be knocking down her door and to just give it time. Well a year went by and nothing happened. One day she got a call to audition for the part of Effie in the film Dream Girls. She got the part and her life has never been the same. Every award she got nominated for she won from Grammy's to Oscars.

I know that some of you maybe experiencing a delay in life and may feel like giving up. I know its frustrating, and you might not be able to see how God is going to work it out, but trust him. Please know that you may not always understand all you may go through, but it serves a bigger and greater purpose in your life. Romans 8:28 NKJV says "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Remember, don't get caught up in what went wrong but focus on God and the lesson that is being taught.

Be Blessed

I want to encourage and speak to those who maybe going through something. It is my prayer that something you read encourages you to keep pushing no matter what may be going on in your life.

The truth hurts!!!!

The truth hurts but it is essential & must be said. Today I had to confront some issues that I have been avoiding for a long time. I had to tell someone the TRUTH and I knew it would hurt. You go day in and day out thinking of what to say and how to say it. Trying to avoid the awkward conversation and the possible outcome. Until the TRUTH is spoken you are weighted down. There was a heavy burden on my shoulders that had to be removed. So the hour of confrontation has arisen, i'm nervous, my palms are sweaty, and I am not sure where to begin. I open my mouth and the truth begins to flow from my lips and it pierces. It pierces deep, tears begin to flow and hearts are shattered. I am left feeling disstressed but also knowing it was necessary. John 8:32 says "the truth shall set you free."  The TRUTH is out and I am free!!!! No looking back and no regrets. By staying true to yourself you are able to stay true to others. Telling the truth is definitely difficult and there can be various outcomes. But at the end of the day we must face our fears head-on knowing the best decision was made.
